Progress of Ambiente & Agua Journal after three years of life

Abstract

After completing three years since its first issue was published on August 2006, we are proud to report the development of Ambiente & Agua - An Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Science, ISSN:1980-993X, doi:10.4136/1980-993X that is publishing its 10th issue with 17 peer reviewed articles. Thanks to the great support of the scientific community, especially to the authorse and peer reviewers, all issues have been published on-time, i.e. at the end of April, August and December. Missions and goals are progressively being achieved. We have two new metadata harvester agencies listing the journal: the Portal of the Brazilian Agency from the Ministry of Education concerned with the graduate level education, known as CAPES in its service “Portal de Periódicos da CAPES” accessed by most of the scientific community in Brazil and the Summary of Brazilian Journals (Sumarios.org). We report in this current issue the growing international interest in the journal, by monitoring the access of readers, using several tools. Therefore, we anticipate a growing interest in the journal from not only the Brazilian but also from the global scientific community.

Author Biography

Getulio Teixeira Batista, Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais em Bacias Hidrográ¡ficas (IPABHi)
Concluiu o doutorado em Agronomia / Sensoriamento Remoto na Universidade de Purdue, EUA, em 1981. Atualmente é Professor Assistente Doutor da Universidade de Taubaté. Publicou diversos artigos em periódicos especializados e cerca de 150 trabalhos em anais de eventos. Atualmente participa de 7 projetos de pesquisa, sendo que coordena 2 destes. Atua na área de Recursos Florestais e Engenharia Florestal, com ênfase em Conservação de Bacias Hidrográficas. Em suas atividades profissionais interagiu com 389 colaboradores em co-autorias de trabalhos científicos. Em seu currículo Lattes os termos mais freqüentes na contextualização da produção científica, tecnológica e artístico-cultural são: Sensoriamento Remoto, Agronomia, Geoprocessamento, Índice de Vegetação, Previsão de safra, Aplicações de Sensoriamento Remoto, Uso da terra, Modelo de Mistura Espectral, Sensores e Técnicas de Sensoriamento Remoto e Classificação do Uso da Terra. Foi pesquisador Principal do Programa Internacional EOS da NASA, onde trabalhou de 1990 a 1992 (Goddard Space Flight Center). Atualmente é membro do Comitê Assessor Recursos Florestais do CNPq e tem participado de vários comitês ad hoc para o CT-HIDRO.
